Subject: Nobody is forcing you!
For those of you who find this strip offensive, I
strongly suggest you spend
your time online looking at things that are pleasant to
you. Just because
you find alternative sexuality offensive is no reason to
condemn, insult and
demean. Have any of you "offended" persons written the
Beetle Bailey strip
to complain about the abuse of enlisted men by NCO's?,
Have you complained
to Andy Capp's creator for glamorizing alcoholism and
spouse abuse? Have you
written Garfield to complain to the ASPCA for the
constant abuse of the dog
by the title character? In other words people, GET A
LIFE!, It's a comic
strip.

Subject: New Format
Paige,
I just wanted to tell you, that I saw today's edition
and really enjoyed the new format. You can do so much
more in the comic book form as opposed to the comic
strip.
Also, the story line looks very intriging. Looking
forward to more of this plot line. Hope you sell lots
of comic books and merchandise.
Good luck,
Louis

Hi there.
So, there I was, happily enjoying reading "Jane's World"
via comics.com,
and life was good. I had just recently discovered the
strip and really
liked it, and not just because I thought Chelle was hot.
I do have some standards. I think.
But, then, all that came to a halt when I discovered
Comics.com is no
longer running new strips, and that it's now only being
offered in print
format. I do appreciate them running old strips since I
am otherwise
unfamiliar with the back stories, but still. What of
Chelle's cop
friend? What of Jane's desk/snack bar? What of the
matching shower
curtain and towels? Important issues, one and all.
I would love to be able to purchase the books, but
unfortunately my bank
account has other ideas. It just laughs when I add up
the costs of the
books -- which, I've told it repeatedly, are all
reasonably priced -- and
check that against my balance. It mocks me. It cares not
for my
plight. I think it may belong to the Christian "right."
So, here I am, subsisting on old strips, pining away for
what once was. It
has left a void in my life, one which the old strips can
only partially fill.
Hey, I'm a lesbian. Drama comes with the territory. ;)
While I'm here waxing dramatic and all, I would like to
thank you for
writing and drawing "Jane's World." I'm sure you know
how unique and
refreshing it is, and if I could, I would buy all the
books. I would even
read them, because that's the kind of woman I am. May
"Jane's World" live
on for many more years to come, even if it's not living
on my computer any
longer.
Peace,
Celine
(Note from Jane's World: Be careful out there, folks.
Some voters out
there aren't happy.)

I hate your comic. Lesbianism is a serious problem that
should not be
glamorized. Try harder on your next strip.

tits, & lick their pussies...Holy Hell...I AM a
lesbian...& all this time I
thought I was just a cowboy!
Keep up the good work, honey.

Dear Paige,
I just wanted to say that I REALLY enjoy your comic.
It's more than just a
comic, it's more of a soap opera. I think it you are
very creative. I've
e-mailed it to several of my friends. I never new it
existed until it was on
the front page of comics.com. I've enjoyed getting to
know your characters. I
love anything that empowers women to be themselves.
Best Regards,
Keri

Hello! I just wanted to say how much I enjoy "Jane's
World". Though
I'm a straight guy, it reminds me of my days in
Northampton, MA,
where it seemed I had a life very similar to Ethan's.
Thanks for
bringing back happy memories! :)

Hi Paige,
I loved this last weeks comics starting with that perv
Stevens letters to
Jane. Not a friend of mine, but could be. A friend of
mine, who's a graduate
student at UC Riverside recently came out in a really
cool way. I'm totally
enjoying the drama that this chick is dealing with. Your
recent strips remind
me of my friend Shankari's trials and tribulations.
However, with the
exception of Jane and Chel, the other chicks, er ah
women,look like they
dropped in from 1963. Great vintage hairdos.
Can you get syndicated in the Sacramento Bee?

Hey there,
Hey how are things?I just read today's strip
and I hope you don't mind me asking but I didn't quite
understand what Chelle had said about being a lesbian
is like being in fifth grade with sex...well..from
where I am..these things are such a taboo I have to
get all these jokes online..lol..hahaha...I mean it
all in a good way though:) I just wanna know what that
line meant "...Being a lesbian is like being in fifth
grade with sex." but all in all I still love your
comics very much and it's great to see someone so open
about it and well..I admire the fact that you're so
brave about displaying it on paper when most people
would just hide..You're a great artist and definitely
a great person with a very open mind.
hope to hear from you soon.

I wanted to say that your comic strip is wonderful. It
is so refreshing to see
a comic with a lesbian as the lead character. Thank you
for your wonderful
work.

Please, Ms Braddock
You can say, "Thank you Helen , but I'm a little busy
right now," and I'll
stop bothering you.
My now spouse for life is a big "For Better or For
Worse" fan, and it was
while checking out the Petersons that I discovered Jane.
I fell in love with her immediately.
Of course the first thing that I liked about Jane is her
firm grasp on the
world. And it's nice to know somewhere there is someone
getting less
sex then me.
(I had to refigure my score when I was told hugs do not
count as sex. But
don't get me wrong, I still love hugs.)
I also love that Jane being gay makes a difference in
less than one strip in
a hundred. I think you have the ratio right. I find
entire days going
by with nothing
happening that requires a different action because of my
orientation.
And to answer one of your characters,
No, you don't have to actually be having sex to be a
lesbian.
It's who you love that counts.
Opps, I'm rambling again.
I'm going to stop taking advantage of you.
And I promise I won't stalk you.
-- Helen
