Paige,

I love your strip. I didn't realize how much it had become part of my
conciousness (and that of my partner's) until we were driving around today
and I made an off-hand remark that some hot-chick motorcyclist looked like
'Chelle and he got the reference immediately! We're hooked.

But please, have mercy on Stephan...he really can't draw, but he's created
some great characters.

I just wanted to say I really enjoy your comic and I've noticed a lot of
coincidences in it, because I'm bisexual, or at least, I thought I was, and
everyone else thought I was, and my middle name is Jane, and my friend's
name is Jane, even though I didn't go out with her...and..yah..
Nways, thanks for putting the comic online and updating it, because I really
enjoy it, and I'm sure other people do as well

As an adolescent, lesbian comic-lover it has meant a lot to read
this comic and remind myself that I'm still totally normal. Not only
is it progressive, but its a genuinely smart and funny comic. If
only Jane's world were a reality, then life would be a lot less
stressful...so would getting a girlfriend

was so captivating I read the whole months worth and I was wondering if you have
your own website were I could see all the janes world comics...? maybe also
I was wondering why you don't do a Sunday strip? I really like your style and
and just the way its all down to earth non macho kool is so great and the
goofiness of it is wonderful specially all the donuts jokes I have a
fixation myself! well I wish you good luck and lots of fun

Hi Paige.
I love where this is going. On a scale of 1 to 10, how sexy does it get?
By the way, I'm a woman. I know Stan is a guys name, but it's just a nick
name. I am 27 years old, single, big breasted, and confused. Hair: Brunette with
blond highlights, Eyes: Green, 5"6

So I started reading the strip. Then I was puzzled. Jane is a lesbian.
What? I have never seen a comic strip with openly gay characters. Am I
out of touch? But I must say, whether I am buried in the sand or if "Jane's
World" is truly groundbreaking begins to take a back seat as Jane's
character and humanity comes through.

A new show "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is going to start on the tv
somewhere, and just the title is a turnoff, in that you can figure how a lot
of the jokes will be generated just from the title. Probably a disservice
to gays and lesbians as gay characters are portrayed as single issue
annoyances set up to be the butt of jokes rather than human beings. They
gotta aim for the gay dollar but in a "let's distinguish them from us,
preferably in a derogatory way that won't raise too many hackles" kind of
way. Wonder if Jesse Helms and his friends had a say in how the show was to
be produced.

It's good to see portrayals of characters like those found in Jane's
World that display fullness of human character and experience rather than
corporate engendered politically chopped up cartoonish trash passed off as
"groundbreaking".

In a politically charged, spin filled atmosphere as gays and lesbians
move forward to equal rights under the law, the same as granted Black
Americans oh so long ago, Jane's World is a simple, clean breath of fresh
air. Too bad there isn't more like it.

Dear Paige,

I really enjoy your comic strip and it's a part of my morning
routine. As a gay man, I hope you never do get rid of "chest hair
before breakfast" appearances.

Anyway, thanks and continue with the great work.

Hello there,

I just wanted to send you a quick note to say that the "plaid pants"
storyline is hilarious...you have me laughing at work, where I
probably shouldn't be reading comics, but there you are.

Thanks!

- Andrew
