Hey Paige,
"the truth is, Talia does want something to happen...
She just doesn't want to take responsibility for it
happening."
Ah. I wondered. I was thinking she couldn't be THAT
oblivious! I was having some Billy Hollywood
flashbacks. "Um...what are they THINKING?! That's
just MEAN!!!"
Can't wait to see everything hit the fan.
I've been laughing my head off at the recent goings on
in the strip with everybody knowing everybody else.
I got my brother in Seattle to buy up all the back
issues at Xanadu and send them to me so it's been fun
catching up on the backstory.
Thought you might get a kick out of this. I drew it
up a few weeks ago wondering just how poor Jane slept
that night with Talia and thought you might get a kick
out of it.
(I know, I know...I need to work on making the
expressions more readable. I tend to focus too much
on detail and lose silhouettes. Guilty.)
Lemme know what you think. :)

Hi Paige,
'smee again,
Just wanted to say howdy and keep up the good work! I
check out your work
every day (it's become my "must see" cartoon) and you
are doing a great job,
godammit!
That poem today was really great and it forced me to
send this fan mail.
Excellent cross-pollenation incorporating that most
visual form of
literature
(poetry) with the most literate form of the visual arts
(cartooning). It
produces a really wondefull blend, taking the cartoon
reader to a new place.
I hope your syndicate appreciates you. FYI, whether or
not your work is
published in a newspaper doesn't affect my viewing of it
as I'd still only
look for it online- but are they promoting you? How does
a new reader find
Jane's World? (Rhetorical questions - no reply is
necessary)
Best,
Bob

Outstanding! I used to play trombone, so I get the joke.
I hope the
triple-tongue reference didn't go over too many heads.
I also hope poor Jane gets some soon.
I am such a fan! Thanks for what you do.

A "femme" invasion is a crisis? Call me shallow but that
sound like
paradise.
Oh! wait a minute, I'm remembering now. I have younger
sisters. Uh-oh!

Hi Paige!
I may have written to you before ... maybe not. I know
that I meant to, but,
well, you know. Uh. Anyway.
Love your comic strip! I never would have found it if
not for the link from
"Monty." There's a backhanded compliment, eh? Kinda
tells you the sort of
person I am: my list of comic links that I read online
are Dilbert,
Doonesbury
(which I have been reading since it was first published
nationwide), Monty
(formerly Robotman), Get Fuzzy (which I also found
through Robotman/Monty)
and
Jane's World. Oh, and then there's User Friendly, the
ultimate geek comic,
and
Foxtrot. But I always read the first group on a regular
basis - UF and
Foxtrot
are occasional indulgences.
Are you even published in any so-called mainstream
papers? Being a member of
the "straight" world, I haven't read The Advocate for a
few years, so I
don't
know if you're in there or not. My guess is that you
don't make it into
many,
if any, newspapers. Which is too bad - you write a great
strip.
My ex came out after we had been married for 11 years.
She said that she
just
couldn't lie to herself any more. I went a bit insane,
of course, for a few
years; but we get along famously now. We were the best
of friends for years
before we ever had a relationship, so that is only
natural. Thus I find the
Ethan/Jane situation likewise natural and eminently rife
with humor.
By the way, the Talia story arc has me on the edge of my
seat! If only Ethan
had better housekeeping habits.
That strip hit a little too close to home - my room
doesn't smell, there are
no dirty clothes or food debris, but it is sinfully
messy. Primarily stacks
of
books, DVDs and unread mail. At least I take out my
trash regularly; I have
small trash receptacles (intentionally) to enforce this
on myself. Enough of
me! Back to your strip ... that's why I'm writing, after
all.
I have great hopes (and concerns) regarding Jane and
Dorothy.
Isn't that crazy? A grown man, 41 years old, feeling
this way about a comic
strip. I sound like an old retired lady talking about
her soap operas.
"You should be proud of your work," is all that I can
say about that.
Warmest regards,
Jay

Hi Paige,
I'm a fan from Boston and I saw the great write-up you
got in Bay Windows
this
week. Congrats on the competition- when do you hear the
results?
Anyway, I was thinking that in your "News and Links"
section, you should put
a
link to this article- you're right on the front page of
www.baywindows.com
Thanks for the laughs and a daily dose of reality,
~A

I absolutely love your comic! I hope she gets with
Dorothy. I read your bio
and I have all the same journalistic characteristics. ya
know- bomb threats,
sleep deprivation, bad clothes, but I went and became a
music journalist.
Wish
I were creative enough for comics. Keep 'em comin.

Congratulations on your strip being picked up. Living in
Ashland Oregon, I'd
never heard of it before... fortunately, there is the
internet. I was
reading
about you and it said that you live in northern
California... could that
mean
we're neighbors?? My partner has lived here for about 12
years and she
didn't
recognize your name. Anyways, keep up the good work and
if you ever visit
our
fair city, let me know!!
Blessings,
Sunny

Hey, I'm Shay! I'm 15 years old and I live in Mass. I
was just browsing the
news section on PlanetOut.com and I found an article
about your comic strip,
so I thought Ide give it a try. I think its wicked
awsome! I read the 30
days
it would let me read on Comics.com Any other place I
could find more of it?

Paige,
I've been through the strip archive, I own all the what,
5 books so far and
read Jane's World on line every day. Your August 28 was
just awful! I just
keep going back to it and laughing, it's so bad! So
that's what "shallow
breast guy" thinks Jane's World should be like? How did
you get such
insight
into the mind of the straight male moron? Anyway, I look
forward to more of
your strips. Write (and draw) on!
