Ron Richards gave The Marian Confederacy a really great review on iFanboy.com. Thank YOU!

Thanks to iFanboy for a great Martian review!
Our smallest, biggest fan showed up for the signing
Wanted to say a special “thank you” to Kathy at the Comic Book Box for hosting the book signing this past weekend. And a special “thank you” to those members of our comics family who drove the furthest to be there and show their support, Mimi and Larry from AIT / PLANET LAR, and their son Walker, the newest member of The Martian Confederacy fan club. He’s even wearing my favorite two colors together… green and orange.

Fresh art
I just posted this new image of Jill for the splash page. The background is a photo of some really beautiful graffiti art on the wall of a surf shop a couple of blocks from my house in Sebastopol. The artist’s name is Casey White. I’ve been wanting to use one of his sprayed walls as a backdrop for my characters for some time and finally got around to it today. Enjoy.

What’s in a word?

…
I’ve been trying to listen with an open mind to all the talk at both conventions and what has become more and more troubling to me is the way that certain words and phrases have become politically loaded. Are we even using the same dictionary? What does “liberal” even mean any more? Does “liberal” mean that you believe low-income families should have health care? Or that all citizens should have equal rights under the law? Are these radical notions to any voting-age adult?
What does “conservative” mean? That you love and cherish family? That you believe in the notion that something larger than ourselves is alive and at work in the universe? That you love your country? Are any of these radical notions to any voting-age adult?
So how is it that we are so apart? Is anyone else sick of the labels?
What if I’m sort of a conservative liberal? Could such and animal exist?
And is anyone else incredibly sensitive to the notion that Palin would say that her down-syndrome infant is “an endorsement of her pro-family values?” The mere suggestion that any child could be used as a political wedge, regardless of what point you’re trying to make, just hurts my soul.
…
I would love some feedback from Jane readers about anything even slightly related to this topic.
I try to keep JW out of politics… but sometimes you just can’t help yourself.
“New comics we crave”
io9.com you just made my day!!
“The best release of the week comes from a small indie company that you won’t have heard of, though; we’ve written about The Martian Confederacy before and, come Thursday, you’ll have your own chance to experience the weird, wild and downright woolly frontiers of Mars for yourself, courtesy of Jason McNamara and Paige Braddock. In a week otherwise dominated by reprints and retcons, make a point of taking home at least one book that dares to do something new. Involving bears.”
